Dancing In The Rain

Life is always offering us the most natural meditations, have you noticed?

Did you ever go outside and stand in the rain? Better yet, take your clothes off and let it literally shower over you, cleanse you, wash all your negative stuff away. Don't forget the soap.

This is not to make light of the weather; I'm speaking of a storm that is not destructive, the kind that we often think of as a bother. Shift your perspective - instead of lamenting the rain, think of it as nourishing and necessary, hydrating our earth, feeding our plants. A good rain is exhilarating. Go ahead, step outside and allow yourself to be fully immersed in it, like bathing in a river, being immersed in concert, or receiving a massage.

Allow your whole self and all of your senses to be delighted: listen to the sounds of drops plunking, smell the fresh scent of precipitation falling from the sky, feel the sensual qaulity of water on your skin, and the pulsing, tingling energies of the universe co-mingling right here right now with you. You may be dazzled by the way it moves you into stillness and a dreamlike state, or want to hop around joyfully in it; it may feel erotic, sexy, and passionate. Or it may wake you up fully into life, totally alert. This is one of life's spontaneous meditations.

Come ready.
